I learned this song on guitar for Uni. Even though I could play the correct notes in the correct order with the correct rhythm and correct louds and softs, I sounded like a pile of meaningless notes compared to Evans. You really have to 'feel' the song. Evens is a master.

I used a c.d. of this successfully many years ago on continuous play as a sleeping aid.His playing and his touch were quite unique - but there is a pervasive melancholy
present throughout much of his playing-especially his work with Jim Hall-possibly reflecting the mood problems associated with his personal life. I don't compare jazz pianists but the gulf between projecting
happiness(Garner) and sadness(Evans)is vast and such that we can enjoy each from a totally different perspective

To me, there isn't a better musician. He has left such a lasting impression on his generation that people will be moved at simply mentioning him, to the same level they were moved by watching him play.
