i agree Mark Cousins just tries sooo hard to prove that is assumptions are correct. Just shut up and let the man talk without getting all psycho analytical.

Mark Cousins is a prick! a failed filmmaker!

"He made bad films like Phantom of the Paradise?" Excuse me, but kindly kiss my ass.

Thank you! :)

I agree - I was baffled by this, especially as Mark Cousins is an intelligent critic. POTP is my favourite De Palma film and by any standard it's one of his most original and entertaining.

Yeah, that really amazes me. Phantom of the Paradise still has a cult following, even after all these years.

The music is amazing, thanks to Paul Williams. And, the story, itself, is timeless.

If anything, Phantom is in undiscovered gem from the 70's.

yeah they are, but at least they ask questions that relate to the art, and they, I believe, are true documentarians because they are trying to find the substance and the meaning to their work, as opposed to American documentarians(interviewers) who try to have a friendly chat, more or less, to just document nothing to get you to see the human side of an individual you would never get to meet, and whom you naturally tend to admire.

De Palma looks about as comfortable as a 7-year-old on an operating table...but he's very honest and forthright and handles the rather probing interview with class.

great interview.

This is the most in depth stuff I've seen from De Palma...Bravo
