Desmond Dekker - The Israelites (live)
BackThis is a live video from Desmond Dekker, and this is a famous song from He, and He's band.
This is SKA music from the 60's, and 70's.
This record can be from 80's, I think.

Get up in the morning and, I dont want to end up like Bonnie and Clyde, is all I could ever make out of the lyrics but,I've always liked the song. I guess you dont need to,just enjoy look at Louie Louie,it needed translation.

Get up in the morning, slaving for bread sir
so that every mouth can be fed
poor me, The Israelites
My wife and my kids are packed up and they leave me
darling said I was yours to receive
poor me, The Israelite
shirt them a tear up, trousers are gone
i dont want to end up like bonny and clyde
poor me The Israelite
after a storm there must be a calm
they catch me in the farm. you sound the alarm
poor me The Israelite
poor me, the israelite
i wonder who im working for
i look a-down and out, sir
so that every mouth can be fed
poor me, The Israelites
My wife and my kids are packed up and they leave me
darling said I was yours to receive
poor me, The Israelite
shirt them a tear up, trousers are gone
i dont want to end up like bonny and clyde
poor me The Israelite
after a storm there must be a calm
they catch me in the farm. you sound the alarm
poor me The Israelite
poor me, the israelite
i wonder who im working for
i look a-down and out, sir

I saw DD @ the 9:30 club in D.C. somewhere around 88-89. It was unforgettable. He had the most dynamic singing voice I've ever heard! He must have been able to shatter glass with his voice. In this video you can see him stretching his jaw to articulate. Seeing him do this live and hearing the scales he was producing is a difficult experience to describe in words.
