This speech is really the defining moment of 2006. Colbert captured the attention of a nation.

This was really funny and I think that the only people who wouldn't find this funny are thosewho are pompous assholes with no sense of humor.

dcp285: If you had read all I wrote, you would not have made such an idiot of yourself in public. Read again the bit "not a critique of his choice of targets", and the bit "critique of his comedic talent", and the bit "taste is taste". Just how much of my comment did you read, in fact?
And don't worry about my political alignment, I could barely be less a Republican if I tried.

That's because he's better at being Republican than any Republican before.
He's 100% pure comedy genius. If you don't find him funny you must be a Republican. That is sad.

This is my first try at watching and listening to this guy, and hopefully the last. He is desperately "not funny at all". That's not a critique of the choice of targets; he goes at people that need a good ego-deflation from time to time. It's a critique of his comedic talent, of which he has barely enough to be a curiosity, a successful amateur.
But taste is taste, and it's a 101% personal thing. You knew your opinion, and now you know mine as well. I wish you all the best.
