Neal Boortz Explain the FAIRTAX
BackAN ISSUE THAT LIBERALS, INDEPENDENT AND CONSERVATIVES CAN AGREE WITH!!!
Mike Huckabee is a supporter and a leader in the FAIRTAX(tax reform) and that is why John McCain should pick Mike Huckabee for Vice President!!!
Call McCain's office at 703-418-2008 and let him know you want the FAIRTAX and Mike Huckabee for Vice President!
A MUST READ!!! A brief summary of the FAIRTAX
A. The FAIRTAX will eliminate income taxes, withholding, self-employment taxes, bonus taxes, overtime taxes, social security taxes, medicare taxes, alternative minimum taxes, estate taxes, gift taxes, corporate taxes, capital gain taxes, dividends taxes, small business taxes, and replace it with a 23% sales tax. Plus it will give each American household that are citizens a rebate check based on the poor necessities of life. It will also abolish the 16th admendment and prevent the government from taxing us twice!
B. Its Fair because for example if you are rich and you buy a $20,000 rolex watch you pay more in taxes but the same percentage as someone buying a $95.00 fossil watch so it is fair for the rich and the poor that may one day become rich.
C. The FAIRTAX is Fair for the poor and middle class because of the rebate check. Under the FAIRTAX there is no taxes on necessity items (food, clothing, water etc), but it is not a necessity to have a party and to buy lots of food or to go on a shopping spree and buy lots of cloths. That is the purpose of the FAIRTAX rebate checks, and the size of the rebate check depends on the size of your household. For example base on 2004 estimates: Single person Annual Consumption Allowance(ACA) is $9,310 and will receive a rebate of $2,254 per year / a Couple ACA is $12,490 and will receive a rebate of $4,508 per year/ Couple with one child ACA is $16,090 and will receive a rebate of $5,290 per year/ Couple with two children ACA is $19,350 will receive a rebate of $6,072 per year. The FAIRTAX will untaxed the poor and allow the poor and middle class to make money without being penalize for making to much money. The current tax system penalize your ability to make money when you work overtime, receiving a bonus, move up from one tax bracket to another, working two jobs etc.
D. The FAIRTAX will give all Americans the ability to pay down debt faster. With the FAIRTAX you will keep your full paycheck and you only pay taxes only when you buy something. HAVING YOUR FULL PAYCHECK WILL ALLOW YOU TO PAY OFF DEBT FASTER!
E. The current tax system tax you base on your income and quadrant (if you are an employee, small business owner, investor, corporation). The employee and small business owner get hit the hardest in taxes, and it puts are government in a powerful position that chooses the winners and losers of the tax system. That is one main reason why there are 34,000 lobbyist that lobby 535 congressmen in Washington. Are Elected officials are acting like kings that receives gifts from lobbyist in exchange of relief in the tax system for their corporation, and OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS EXPOSED TO BE REPRESENTING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE NOT THE LOBBIST IN WASHINGTON. The FAIRTAX will eliminate the confusion that our elected officials have on who they should be representing
F. The FAIRTAX will remove all the tax loop holes that millionaires and billionaires enjoy because they are able to pay for the best tax lawyers, the best tax accountant and the best lobbyist that remove their tax burdens every year. The current tax system taxes based on income produce not wealth assets. I am a Capitalist but it is not capitalism when the government can choose who the winners and losers are going to be and it is not capitalism when the current tax system taxes one group of people better than another. For one example Bill Gates is worth over $47billion if he does not produce an income this year in the eyes of the current tax system Bill Gates is just as poor as the homeless living under a bridge! The FAIRTAX will remove this nonsense. If the FAIRTAX was implemented than Bill Gates will be taxed based on what he buys no more loop holes.

if your definition of earned is that you actively labor for your money (e.g. dig a ditch) then captial gains, which generally create a return without you "cranking the wheel", are not earned by this perspective. If you define earned as simply getting money from any form of investment, whether it be labor, stock market, etc. then you get the definition you've listed. I on the other hand don't share that perspective.

The return to capital is earned while the return to "ownership" of land is wholly unearned. Our education systems have succeeded over the last century in blurring the distinction between capital and land and now most of us now say that land is capital. When you are willing to think through the implications of this we could begin to have an intelligent conversation about capital. The land speculators have perpetrated a false argument between labor and capital when the real argument is with land.

were you replying to me or to who?

You say that the middle class would not be as fortunate due to the lesser amount of taxes that they pay. How is ZERO not better than whatever percentage they are currently paying? Everyone wins. As for the reference to "the wealthy", why must it always come down to there being a classification? The wealthy are just people who worked very hard, obviously harder than most, to have their wealth. That is the great thing about this country, anyone can be "wealthy" if they work hard enough!

wow, you really need to open your eyes and help yourself to a social inequality course.

Punkunion2:
If there IS a social inequality course,I'm sure it is taught by a liberal who believes that everyone should share what they have with the poor, so that it will all be "fair". It comes down to working hard to achieve your goals.I don't need the government deciding to take what I have worked for & giving it to others who haven't been willing to work as hard. For those who are in bad situations that are not of their control, I'll let my charitible contributions take care of them.

if there is a social inequality course? stratification and inequality are some of the core tenents of sociology and courses have been taught (by those of all political persuasions) on the topic for decades.go to school.
furthermore this naive junk about people not "wanting sucess enough" or "not working hard enough" as if our whole system is based soley on merit is so elementary and unrealistic. The structure of the market including who it benefits and doesn't is largely a human construct.

Have you actually read the Fair Tax book? How about the one that debunks all of the myths about it?
VoterWhoIsInformed (October 8, 2008 at 4:05 pm)
I'm not entire sure who gave me a negative vote on this, but I was directing it to someone who was disputing the fair tax being a viable option. I support the fair tax!

how can you say that capital gains are not earned? A person puts their money and takes risks, which can lead to a gain or loss. If they make money versus lose it, they certainly earned it. How can you dispute that rationally?
