Too many harbor strong opinions about Tibet, yet know nothing more than the few slogans offered by the mass-media outlets.

The media screams:
"They killed innocent monks!" - but those "innocent" monks and other young hooligans killed innocent Chinese before a single shot was fired on them.
"The Chinese are oppressive" - do you consider freeing over 95% of Tibetans from slavery, building a state of the art infrastructure, and a new economy oppressive?
"The Chinese suppress Tibetan Buddhism" - then why have the Chinese spent a fortune restoring ancient monasteries and places of religious significance?

China doesn't SPIN NEWS like we do. Their silence is too often mistaken as admission of guilt. Don't be another uninformed drone. Do everyone a favor and learn truths before forming opinions.

What is your solution? Leave it be? Sounds great, unless you're a Tibetan trying to survive in Tibet or a monk in Tibet living under constant surveillance, oppression and control. There are police stations in monasteries, Please! There are nearly a thousand brothels in holy city of lhasa. Should humanity continue to repeat the same errors, and look away when it's convenient for their wallet? Or should humans evolve? Perhaps learn to put their heart before their wallets.

They actually make fun and try to humiliate Tibetans. So your answer is to allow China to erase Tibetan footprint in Tibet, (which they have been doing), destroy the culture, torture people, and maintain a massive military presence? Tibetans are not interested in war, in expansionism, in invading neighbors, etc. Yes, there would be challenges but it would be better than what may Tibetans are facing now. 18% of the population has died as a direct result of the invasion and occupation by China.

I have not only lived the issue I have studied the issue and the history for over 30 years. Yes, like the Chinese liberation which wasn't a liberation at all. Tibet and I mean greater Tibet could become a zone of peace and be a nice buffer between tense neighbors. The dominate group in Tibet is quickly becoming Han-Chinese who moved into Tibet for various reasons. Many were lured by the government while others came for work. In any case they spite on Tibetan culture, people and traditions.

And what will happen after they claim sovereignty, that's the big question. R they gonna become one of those countries in Africa, plagued with wars. You do realize that there are multiple supporting groups within the Tibetan region. If Tibet was to become independent, there will be a Civil War. So that's the thing, u don't fully understand the issue, and then when it comes to liberation, and u think that u have freed another country, but in reality u have really just fucked another country.
