How then is it possible if the iPS cells are now within the patient's brain to be able to procede with the sorting process that removes the undifferentiated cells that may later turn into tumors?
WayCurious (September 21, 2008 at 4:41 am)
iPS aren't in the person's brain and not ready for that, either. Tumerogenesis is a problem w/all pluripotent. I've not seen the sickle cell/Parkinson's work done with them to see what the tumor rate was, but, it is theoretically possible to grow these to final tissue (which doesn't cause tumors) without rejection issues of embryonic (when grown to final tissue it's like it came from any other non-you donor). They do allow for study not of guessed condtions, but specific subsets of them.

Embryonic stems cells are the only ones that will regrow tissue and nerves--not always forming tumors but the body part they are programmed to become.
WayCurious (May 4, 2008 at 6:51 am)
You're mistaken. Even hair follicle stem cells can regrow nerves/repair spinal damage. (See my videos on organ creation and regeneration.) From Scientific American, "ES cells, unlike adult stem cells, cannot be used directly in therapy because they cause cancer. Indeed, one laboratory test for ES cells is to inject them into mice and analyse the teratoma (a tumour formed of foetal tissue) that arises." They are't programmed to become a part, but respond to neighboring cells in intact embryo.

Is it medically possible to regrow muscle tissue, ligaments, and nerves of the uterine cervix that has partially cut away?
WayCurious (May 5, 2008 at 7:09 am)
Aside for dectronic, menstrual fluid has pluripotent stem cells (Endometrial Regenerative Cells)as well (developed in to heart, lung, liver, bone, etc.) Published by Dr. Xaiolong Meng of Witchita KS. One video here watch?v=yfSHcnFo_I0

Near using own stem cells, but not in people together. Each done separately w/different organ (ligaments in horses a lot). Watch videos 'regrow your own organ' and 'regenerate with stem cells', get names of researchers/companies and email them through website. Search ClinicalTrials*gov. If not extensive damage, U of S FL (USF) researcher Paula C. Bickford, PhD has published effects of diet. Read her work (and all that apply to you) and contact as well. Don't trust outside US.

I offered to discuss all you want through YouTube's contact option so we're not limited by character count or YouTube not liking links.
You can read iPS Parkinson's at technologyreview*DOT*/Biotech/20530/page1/ and the embryonic at ninds.nih*gov/news_and_events/news_articles/stem_cells_improve_PD*htm (other 'adult' stem cells had functional improvement in 2 weeks and no tumors, btw).
