Great to see this. I was there and loved every minute of it.

On the contrary, 23% is less than the total of embedded taxes on new retail products. The thing to consider is, the tax is not collected on used products. Don't want to pay taxes? Don't buy new stuff. Read the book, seriously...study the proposal before making such comments.

All this does in reality is make tax collection more efficient.
Do you actually believe the government will cut jobs, agencies, and programs? Furthermore they will get the same levels of tax incoming or the legislation would never make it out of committee. Politicians will not endanger thier earmarks and pet projects by havin less revenue coming in. The 16th must be repealed for real success.

Be that as it may, unravelling the government bureaucracy has to start somewhere. Once the tax system is shifted to consumption, the government programs for the poor may ultimately become unnecessary. Face it, you still have to eat an elephant one bite at a time. Ants do it...if you get enough ants, it happens at a faster rate. I have yet to see a movement in this country BY AMERICAN CITIZENS that begins to take bites out of the elephant like this one.

Did you see where there are essentially welfare checks cut peiodicly so many still do not pay taxes under this porposal? Make the rate low like 3-5 cents and apply it evenly to everyone. I make less tha 20K per year and I still adamently believe that. Leave some exemptions like buying a home and car and purchases accross state lines(internet)and tax everything else.

All I can say is, read the book. Also, go to myspace com/dennis317 and see Neal Boortz's video in it's 19-minute entirety, as I could not upload it to YouTube due to its length. By the way, does your name reference the AK-47?

If you really look into things like welfare checks, foodstamps, and other government aid, you'll find out that it needs to be cut back on anyways. I have seen people pull into these offices with Cadillacs, Lexuses, and the like and the claim they can't afford to live. It's given to too many people who don't need it and too many that don't have a job because they are too lazy to get one.

I prefer charity be left to charities and churches, cut welfare totally except for the most seriously disabled. Unless you are retarded or a cripple you should not qualify for welfare at all.

I agree, but what does that have to do with the Fairtax?

The prebate is just a way to get all voters on the government dole. After a consumption tax were to pass it would not take the democrats long to manipulate the prebate process to gain favor with voters. With the prebate in place you will never have the "hands-off" government proponents claim to want. Aside from that I commented on your response. The prebate needs to go and the tax amount needs to go down, .23 is too high.
