It was November 9, 1965, 5:25 PM. Dan Ingram was on the air at 77 WABC Radio in New York City. Suddenly everything started sounding strange . . . thus began the 1965 Power Blackout that stretched from Ontario, Canada through New Jersey. 25 million people were plunged into darkness for the next 12 hours.

Today is Nov 9, 2008 . . this was broadcast exactly 43 years ago TONIGHT ! I was 4 years and 7 months old when this took place and in all honesty it feels like only a short time ago . .man does time fly . .

This was a Sunday afternoon, if my memory serves me right. Was living in the Bronx at the time, and was eight years old.

Thanks for the comment. This video is averaging more than 1,000 hits per month, which we're very happy with. Keep in mind, the Blackout of '65 was 43 years ago. Millions of folks who were around back then are no longer with us, so I guess we can't blame most of them for not viewing the video.
