tinahelyboy23, I'm sorry where did you get your info? My '66 Mustang had a GVW, (Gross Vehicular Weight) of 2600lbs and it had the heavier L6 Sprint200 engine, (the 289cid V8 is 200lbs lighter). Last I checked that is quite light.

The base weight of a '99 BMW M3 is 3175. That is a full 575lbs heavier than my old '66 Mustang. Little bit more than a feather don't you think? You have to remember old cars are inherently lighter. They use almost no sound deadening, have zero crumple zones, simpler engines and transmissions without complex emission controls, as well as no anti lock brakes or yaw controls. All this contribute to the weight advantage old pre-70's vehicles enjoy.

ssttiiggyy89, Excuse me but how do you exadurate, I can't find that word in the dictionary. I watch Top Gear all the time. I find the tongue and cheek exaggerations hilarious. It's very biased though, for example Clarkson makes fun of the four litter engine in the Ford Mustang. Yet when a British sports car manufacturer drops the same engine, with a few mods, into a British car suddenly it's, "The best engine known to man." Watch Fifth Gear, Tiff is much more open minded and exaggerates less.
