Except that in medicine (and much before even that - in grade school) you learn about this interesting thing called crossover. The left side of your brain controls the right side of your body and vice versa. Absolutely? No, but decent rule of thumb.

The right hand side of your brain deals with creativity.

Were you looking to the left or the right when you typed that comment?

Facts:

The US spends over 16% of its GDP on healthcare.

The US life expectancy is not in the top 20 for life expectancy

The US spnds the most money on healthcare and has the worst outcomes. Look at EU nation, Australia, NZ, Japan, all have national healthcare plans, spend less and have better outcomes.

THE US FOR PROFIT SYSTEM -- doesnt work

Dude...

What does spending have to do with life expectantcy?

Support the troops - end the war. Then use all those billions - no trillions! - and use it on healthcare and things to timprove our nations, instead of adding on wasteful government programs.

By the way, how much do congressmen get paid?
And how many days are they actually in progress? Hmm. We should do something about that.

That only works in a factual discussion where you are answering a question like "Did you cheat on your wife last week?". While supposing what one might have done in a given situation, a person will imagine themselves in that situation, and use left brain functions for example.

Why would anyone want government run healthcare? Can anyone tell me ANY government program that stays within budget and runs efficiently?

The best care will NEVER be free. "Universal healthcare" will only be for people who are "needy".

And, for the BIG QUESTION. Can any supporter of Government run healthcare please tell me, where in the U.S. Constitution does it say that this is a legitimate function of government?
cctc11891 (November 22, 2007 at 12:26 am)
True - government programs always are wasteful and flawed. But some people, not all 'needy' don't have a choice. What if you're a small business owner and you can't afford it. This might help...the best care will never be free. I agree. But at least there's some for the middle man like me
davehall2397 (November 22, 2007 at 12:49 am)
Simply put, it's not governments job to provide ANYONE with medical care or healthcare coverage. Rich, poor, middle class, working, or not. NOT GOVERNMENTS ROLE!

If gov't provides healthcare programs for small business, then who is really paying for it? TAXPAYERS.

I pay for me, my wife, and my two kids. Now I have to pay for other people too? What this country needs is more SELF REPONSIBILITY! And, to stop with all of the "gimme this" or "I'm entitled to that".
