"I disagree. Voting against things I believe are wrong is not the same as stoning"
That's the problem with holding one interpretation of the bible over another, the way I see it, the verse refers to how if you use man's law to enforce god's law instead of leaving it to free will you are making following those laws hollow gestures as they won't be able to follow those laws by their free will.

"man's law should not be used to enforce god's law"
I don't agree that such a statement is embedded in that verse. And as I just said in another response, I don't agree that voting against the legality of something is the same as stoning (i.e., killing). My vote didn't pass, which is fine, but as I said, I'll be held responsible for MY vote, so I did what I believe is right.

I disagree. Voting against things I believe are wrong is not the same as stoning (i.e., killing someone). Like I said, I'm guilty of sins myself, and all sins are equal to God. But I still wouldn't vote to make lying, cheating, murder, envy, etc. legal. And anyway, my vote didn't pass into law, now did it? I'm fine with that, but it's not on my head.

I'm sorry, do you mean that your interpretation is the correct one?
"instead of leaving it to free will you are making following those laws hollow gestures"
I do agree with that. This comes back around to the idea of voting against something vs just leaving it alone. Hmm. Well, for now, my previous statements stand as I still believe I know the right thing to do, but I will do some thinking and praying about that.
