There called "hammer on's" and as long as you hit the reguler note before one then you dont need to strum for the ones wih white around the top..

the glowing notes... the ones with glowing middles are hammer ons and pull offs... you can just press the buttons to hit the notes as long as you do not miss ANY of the notes or else you have to strum again
