Social anxiety affects the very young, middle aged and very old, the 15-30 age group have a free ride, delusions of grandeur.

I over came SA, just knowing that it can't physically hurt you.
I was super afraid to talk to people because I thought they would hate me for it.
I just did it one day and gradually built upon being able to make eye contact and properly form sentences in my head.

Its about faking confidence. =)

Thats because you dont have the disorders...people with disorders know what they feel makes no sence they just cant help it.

Not true. I DID have this, and I stupidly listened to doctors and went on Xanax for years and I wont even get into the spiraling nightmare THAT caused. Drugs only mask the real issues - and by saying 'you can't help it' you only disable and make yourself worse. You can say 'I don't know how to help it, it seems like I have no control' which is far different from saying you have none. Behavioral therapy does work - STAY AWAY from the meds.

meds probably aren't the answer, but i'm not functional without'em. i couldn't even work
