Religion is mass control, and fear is the adhesive for it all. The fears in religion are so bad that it can trump the fear of death itself. This can knock a person's sense of survival out of whack, in which like a drug, can make a person dependent on it for (what they think) is their "ultimate" survival.

When people start worrying about an after life, they can't exist effectively in their current life. Immediately becoming putty in the hands of their pushers.

What if YOU are wrong (whatever your belief is)? Do you realize that each and one of us could be wrong about an infinite amount of things? Does it make sense to cherry pick one of them?

you assume that the woman asking was a christian, rather than an atheist looking for an answer to a question that many christians ask atheists...assuming makes dawkins an... well you get it

Let's not forget taht this was a public forum and also that it was also given at a university. Firstly, a public answer to any question needs to be delivered in a suitable fashion (that means ridicule if necessary, as was the case here) for all audiences. Secondly, anyone attending university can be assumed to be over 18 which means they are a fully franchised adult, so pleading that 'it was just a young girl with a simple question' is pathetic beyond words.
