No the 'right' can not be taken away, any violation of the US Constitution is grounds for the elected official to removed. Not voting can mean black can be put back into slavery if they don't have any elected officials that will vote to not allow it. Immigrants can be put into concentration camps at the governments discretion if people don't vote for officials to not allow it. As American citizens we have a duty to remove an official that is breaking any of the rules in our Constitution.

d'you mean 'concentration camps' like Guantanamo? Prisoners without a trial! D'you mean like impeaching Bush who lied his way into his former position, lied to everyone on behalf of his administration of oil barons, lied about Iraq etc etc etc.... even if you gave up the right to remain silent, you'd still be powerless against those you vote for.
gigolo25 (November 25, 2008 at 3:33 pm)
Are there any US Citizens in Guantanamo? Bush can't be blames solely for Iraq or any other dealing with the war, Congress "who we voted for" didn't apply checks and balances, and failed to do the right thing. To date there are several new members of Congress. Democrats now control the house, and barring a complete Democrat fuck up, the Republicans can kiss the Oval Office goodbye for the next 2 decades or so.

I do understand why you think voting is not important, because in Britain you have a Queen and shes not going anywhere. I dont know what power she has, or if she makes decisions (and I know she does)but the PM takes an oath to remain loyal to her. So in essence hes not for the good of Britain, hes for whats good for the Queen. The anthem is Hail the Queen or something like that, so basically your entire government is bent on pleasing her. So are right, voting to you doesn't have the same impact.

Get back to me when you know what you are talking about.
