Abu Ghraib - Iraq
BackFeb 2006
Shocking pictures have come to light revealing the extent of prisoner abuse at Abu Ghraib - and it's much worse than anyone imaged.
The photos depict new incidents of homicide, torture and sexual humiliation and indicate a broader pattern of abuse than was previously understood. "We now know there was systemic and widespread abuse", states ACLU lawyer Amrit Singh. She hopes the photos release will lead to a proper inquiry

Contracts to sell Iraq humanitarian goods through the Oil-for-Food Program were given to companies and individuals based on their willingness to kick back a certain percentage of the contract profits to the Iraqi regime. Companies that sold commodities via the Oil-for-Food Program were overcharging by up to 10%, part of the overcharged amount being diverted into private bank accounts for Saddam Hussein and other regime officials and the other part being kept by the supplier.

Over an estimated 65,000 people have died in Iraq as "collateral damage"? You can't go into another country, kill thousands, wreck their infrastructure, delay/fix elections, sell off their state owned companies to foreign interests and expect not to get resistance, even from people who may have supported you initially. Say Iraq invaded America, how would you expect the people to respond after that kind of treatment? Operation Iraqi Liberation aka O.I.L. This had nothing to do with terrorism.

Vickeyk, you are right. The Nazis used the same rethoric/propaganda to get their people to war as the Bush regime. It's all 'self defence'. Read about Reichstag fire. And the USA is encountering the same problems: The fiercer you become, the less friends you have and more resistance you get.

If your enemy was going to murder me, I would give you what you wanted and then enjoyed the benefits.
