Edwards was the best candidate, I really have high hopes for him in races to come, Barack will be a good President though, Unfortunately Edwards already turned down the VP slot /tears.

john Edwards the best candidate and thats 100% true cares more about American people than Hillary and barrack together he stance on poverty first to ask for universal health care and so on hes one of the few politions that stull care about america not dissin hillary or obama but you know....

I'd also like to add that I believe all the Dems would've brought some sort of needed change. To say one of them wouldn't is BS

I always found it ridiculous that he would claim Hillary wasn't a real candidate of Change. Her overall policys were more progressive then Obama's and rivaled his own. She also was much more Gay Friendly then the other two (who both link their opposition to religion), yet she wasn't for change but they were?

I think John was pretty clear on why Hillary wasn't a true agent of change. Neither was Bill Clinton. If you recall the 8 years that the Clintons held the reigns before, please note that gay rights were scarcely advanced during that time frame.

The sad truth is that if a Democrat wants to get elected, he or she has to tap dance around the gay marriage issue. America simply does not support it at this time. It's unfortunate, but change comes painfully slow.

I personally feel like the whole special interest nonsense was overdone this past primary. they're just an easy scapegoat..and its really a non issue because the only way to be rid of them is congress...and who controls congress?
Bill wasn't great on Gay Marriage either..but Hillary has always been more liberal in that area then her husband. And the fact she doesn't belive its "Immoral" or hide behind "Religion" like the others speaks volumes about her vs. the others.

She would've shifted that position to the center in the general. Like it or not, a candidate who comes out with a full-throated endorsement of gay marriage WILL NEVER GET ELECTED IN AMERICA. And thus they will be in no position to help people out.

Sucks, but that's the way it is. If the gay activists had chilled the fuck out in 2004, then gay marriage bans wouldn't have been on many state ballots, something that helped Bush get re-elected.

Nah thats the thing. Hillary had already "Rounded" out her Liberal Edges. She was catering to the General Election audience in the primarys. No Shift would've been necessary. (which is funny because already catering to the General Election audience and she was still more Liberal then Obama!)
At the moment its career suicide. but it won't be forever. Anyways Offically she wasn't for Marriage so no shift there! But she did while still embracing the gay community. Edwards and Obama didn't

Everyone I know is for equal gay rights. But it needs to be a non-issue in national politics. Pinning democratic candidates down on this matter only ruins their chances of getting elected.

It's time for a reality check for the gay community. You know who best will represent you. Support that man, for fuck's sake!

You're right, one day we won't have to wink wink, nod nod. But that day isn't today, so what's the point? We gotta fight in the trenches that are already dug!
Stormiya (July 24, 2008 at 11:53 pm)
There is no pinning them down. I was just bringing up the audacity of Edwards claiming Clinton wasn't real change when she's more Liberal then him in this respect.

I think the Gay Community does get behind the best option for them despite how many times that particular person snubs them. However it was quite refreshing to see how much Hillary embraced them.
