Then why is english the main language used in business?
oh yeah, cos almost everyone in the world speaks it as a first or second language
burnthebassist (November 8, 2008 at 12:24 pm)
Actually, english is the main language used in business because America speaks english and America has the biggest economy therefore if you wanna make money internationally you'll have to deal with America and if you want to deal with America you'll have to speak english. THAT is why.
burnthebassist (November 8, 2008 at 12:27 pm)
For the same reason, foreign bands sing in english. If you wanna be internationally successful you have to appeal to the Americans because they have the biggest metal buying population in the world. There are countless scandinavian bands that originally wrote in their native languages but start using english to have international appeal.

Sorry about that didn't mean to post the same thing twice.

What on earth does most common mean? If you are going on go on number of people who speak a particular language, Chinese, more specifically Mandarin, is the most spoken language in the world. 3 times as many people speak Mandarin than English. There are even more Spanish speakers than English.
