The matter is a little more complex than that. The important point is the difference between "pure existential" and "restricted existential" statements. IF certain, specified paranormal powers fail certain tests under conditions when they SHOULD be observed, that can be taken as a falsification of these powers. Of course, even after the test fails, one could say that there are other paranormal powers, etc., but that doesn't make particular, falsified hypthothesis any less (apparently) false.

no true psychic would ever expose themselves to the like of james randi. randi is hoping to expose a true psychic so his government pals can scoop them up

In 1994 me and my family watched one of Mr. Geller's shows. He "told" us to hold a bunch of keys and, with the same hand, take a spoon by its thinnest part and hold it with one's thumb and index finger. He said we should focus on the spoon. Then, he "told" us to open our hand (that happened to be my sister's) and all of our keys have been twisted...

Did your sister have an opportunity to bend them when no one was looking?
TheRealQwertyMaster (November 24, 2008 at 7:54 am)
No, she didn't, and she wouldn't. It's amazing what happened that night. Of course, I'm not trying to convince anyone about this, but... I mean, this is just an experience...

Randi if you are so dedicated about exposing people go after the authors, coaches and movie makers of the Secret, don't you think the philosophy of the L.O.A. has had more psychological effect on people more then anything, go after the new age.I suggest going after gov. remote viewers. The earth existed before science, there are still lots of things we have not yet discovered.

How can you observe something you cant physically see; only the effects of the wind is observable.
speakintelligently (October 31, 2008 at 2:02 am)
Anyone can observe wind. There are many tests to prove wind exists because wind is physically observable. Observation is really what science is about.

Supernatural powers have observable results and no observable causes. Therefore, the simplest way to prove the existence of a supernatural power is to reveal an effect with no observable cause. If supernatural powers existed, they would be very easy to prove. To date, all tests involving supernatural powers have revealed quite natural causes.

i'm a magician and it would be impossible to see whats not facing you while using a mirror.Get it. people draw with paper facing them, hello!

I'd have to agree with you the the "mirror method" is an awkward explanation. However, Randi has proposed other methods by which Geller could duplicate drawings; one is simple peaking (there's a video in which Geller apparently does this); another is "pencil reading" (David Marks' "The Psychology of the Psychic" has more information on this); and thirdly, Geller could gain access to envelopes containing drawings and peak at the drawings they contain (see "The Truth About Uri Geller).
