Um I wonder if you have any idea of what you're talking about because if you do I would like you to elaborate on that. You really think there's that many people kickin it waiting for a handout? The New Deal was one of the best policies done in this country ever. Whether you agree with it or not, you can't knock the effect it had.

the new deal was the worst thing ever to happen to the us economy, and its effects are still haunting us in the fact that we live in a welfare state, and are being crushed under the weight of a society that thinks it deserves handouts.

If you for one second think that Reagan was a better president than FDR, Teddy Roosevelt, Woodrew Wilson, or Harry Truman you need to do some serious studying and hit the American history books like a car crash. What did Reagan do comprable to the New Deal, leading us through WWI and WWII, dropping the A-Bomb, the Fair Deal, the Square Deal, Womans Suffrage, treaty of versilles, panema canal, the great white fleat... the list goes on.
What the hell did Reagan do? I do not get it.

Yes LBJ did but Great Society, civil rights, and medicare are all huge dynamic changes for the US. Kennedy saved us from WWIII. Eisenhower was simply a good conservative who balanced the budget.
What did Reagan do that was significant? What did he do that was good? Take out a bond with Japan to give the American people a tax cut?

eisenhower was good, but didnt do anything significant while in office. Kennedy was good too, but i dont think he had a lasting effect as much as reagan did.
i dont know what to say about lbj though. his great society was a good idea, but most of it backfired with high inflation rates and taxes (with the exception of civil rights and medicare). He really screwed us with vietnam

inflation, interest rates and unemployment went down after reagan took office and the budget did go up because jimmy carter cut the military budget too much !!!! reagan was by far the best president we have had since lincoln

Reagan was the greatest president of the modern era

It's glad to know I'm not alone on this. I just don't get it. How can the conservative party spend so much? It's the democrats who balance the budget.
We need a Teddy Roosevelt or an Eisenhower conservative. Not a Calvin Coolidge or Reagan.
And yeah, the government taking equity shares in banks is the closest to socialism we've ever had. Even more so than the New Deal b/c FDR specifically chose not to nationalize the banks.

And what's with the stupid comment of "liberals are rich socialists"? If you are truly socialist how can you be rich? lol.
Besides, isn't it the Republicans who nationalized their banks, who are interfering in the free market by giving money to corporations whenever they run out of it, wanting to give money to people who had bad loans on their mortgages. This is the true definition of "socialism"....the state running businesses. It's obvious the American system does not work.

Reagan changed Conservatism to what we know it is today. Prior to his rise to power, Conservatism meant exactly that...to conserve. President Eisenhower was a Conservative but deplored any foreign occupation in other people's country, a strong economy based on balanced budgets, and so on. The true meaning of Conservative has been lost with Reagan and Bush. There is now a backlash this "new right-wing" conservatism. Why? Because it's self-serving and it simply is not good for the country.
