bjobe: Ask some of the hundreds of whites (Hispanics, Asians, etc.) who've come from across the country, & around the world over the last 36+ yrs (including the last 9 mos!), whether or not they felt welcomed at Trinity.
Given that he's taught at the U of Chgo, seminaries & universities around the world, you'd probably learn a thing or two if you were open to learning. (Obviously, you're not).
He doesn't need "appeasing"; many around the country highly respect him. THEY'RE not the fool.

I've heard his scholarly words, "Goddamn America". He either says it or asks for it. We sing "God Bless America", and some colored pseudoscholar is saying "God damn America." I'm open to knowing which universities at which he taught. Harvard? Yale? Princeton? Obama repudiated many of his teachings - apparently HE learned a thing or two.

"White people welcome at Trinity United Church of Christ?" What sane white person would WANT to go there in the first place? "Jeremiah Wright: one of the greatest Biblical scholars this nation has?" Yeah, right. Right up there with Adam Clarke, Matthew Henry, Alexander Campbell. He wouldn't know an uncial manuscript from a cursive or Koine Greek from Classical. And the whites who appease him look like total fools - and sound like them.

Trinity Church is like the crazy uncle kept in the basement. There is no way that this church "loves" white people. Whatever denomination the church is in tolerates the church because of political correctness. I do think, however, that Obama had already moved on past the hate filled rhetoric of this church and is maturing before the American people's eyes. Time will tell whether Obama grows into being a good President. I do know that my prayers are with him.

You really shouldn't be so intent on being "right" in the midst of your ignorance, that you miss the opportunity to learn something new.
What Obama repudiated was the inflammatory remarks repeated in the media. As much as you'd like to believe otherwise, those clips were neither the norm nor the sum total of the types of sermons that were preached at Trinity.
Those words were said in the midst of many others; you're just not interested in THOSE.
